Bach was the first composer in history to actively engage with musical pedagogy. He left an unprecedented legacy of work that remains as relevant now as it was in Leipzig in the 1730s.

PROGRAM

11am Art of Fugue: everything you always wanted to know about the fugue but were afraid to ask! This public talk by Festival director Roland Peelman will include the public analysis of one of the great Bach fugues performed on saxophones as well as period string instruments

12pm The Children’s Bach: extracts from Bach’s Notenbüchlein für Anna Magdalena and Wilhelm Friedemann performed by festival artists with students from CGGS

1pm Bach’s Keyboard: from harpsichord to dis-clavier: Korneel Bernolet, Dan Tepfer, Eve Egoyan
