Roger Woodward plays Chopin and Debussy like no other. His intimate relationship with the people of Poland through the upheavals of the eighties and his lasting connections with French culture had a profound influence on his artistic growth. Woodward is more than a mere pianist. He is now a living legend, as versed in the classics as he is acquainted with the composers of our time. This is the first of two much anticipated recitals in which he performs Chopin’s complete Études as well as Debussy’s most beguiling poetic tableaux.
