The Embassy of Belgium presents
The October Revolution
A Line in the Sand
Shostakovich’s Cello Sonata in D minor and his Seven Romances on Poems by Alexander Blok are searing masterpieces from a dark episode in Russia’s history. In this concert they are offset by Mozart’s playful tribute to bowling (or ‘skittles’), and a new sonata by the Belgian composer Frank Nuyts. Hear how a cheeky song about a cockroach became the battle cry for the Mexican revolution.
